Size zero models, are they really what should be portrayed as a role model to the younger generation of today?
This 'craze' as it has been called has been blamed for the death of two models.
Size zero is a womens clothing size used in the US and is the eqivalent to the UK size 4.
Facts of a size zero:
Bust 31.5 inches (80cm), Waist 23 inches (60cm) and hips 34 inches (86cm).
To put these facts into prospectus, the average waist size of a british 8 year-old is 22 inches (56cm).
With The World Health Organisation, women's groups and doctors worried about the effect of using underweight models has to girls with the dangerous signals they send out, fashion labels such as Prada, Versace and Armani have agreed to ban size zero models from their catwalks.
In 2006, Madrid barred ultra-thin models from fashion week. Milan then followed suit.
From 2007, The British Fashion Council who run London fashion week still insisted on a less responsible approach instead: that there was to be no ban on the use of size zero models but the creation of a task force to invent better guidelines for the fashion industry.
An inquiry made in the September of 2007 reported that up to 40% of models could potentially have an eating disorder. A number of suggestions to promote health were made but still no ban on size zero was made.
I'm not saying that if you are naturally thin it is a bad thing, as I know some people struggle to put weight on, but starving is not a good look. It could harm you or worse kill you.
